| TEACHERS:
All Academy International teachers have university degrees or tertiary
qualifications and hold, at least, a Cambrdge Celta or a Trinity College
Diploma in the Teaching of English to non-native Speakers of English.
Almost all have had experience of teaching outside the UK.

COURSES:
With General English from
elementary to advanced, Conversation, and courses for the Cambridge
Exams (First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced, and Cambridge
Proficiency), IELTS Classes,
and English for Business and the Professions,
we meet nearly all English language learning needs. In addition, we
are open all year and have a large Summer School. We do not
increase our prices for the Summer months! Compare us with other
good schools: we are great value for money!
HOURS OF
STUDY: You can study in a group for 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours
per week, and, if you wish, you can also book One-to-One
Lessons on topics of special importance to you - or for business
or professional purposes.You can book One-to-One lessons after you arrive,
but it is wiser to book them in advance, especially if you are on a tight
schedule!
FOR HOW LONG CAN I STUDY? You can study from 2 weeks
to 36 weeks - or even longer! If you study for an Academic Year (36 weeks),
you will get 36 weeks of tuition plus 8 weeks optional holidays. You may
take these holidays in the summer or at another time, in whole or in part,
but you must give us at least two weeks notice of your intention to take
a holiday.
STUDENTS: Our students come from all over the world: Europe,
East and West; South Asia; South America; the Middle East. In age, they
are typically between 18 and 35. The minimum age is 16; there is no upper
age limit, and all students work happily together in a friendly, family
atmosphere.
CLASS SIZE/ SCHOOL SIZE: The maximum is 14 students in
a class, and the average is about 8 to 11. Typically, the School has 140
students in the winter, and about 190 in the summer period - mid June
to mid September. ECONOMY CLASSES (late afternoon) are cheaper because
at a less popular time but are run to our normal high standards! Class
sizes may be larger but the courses are some of the best value in London.
START ON ANY MONDAY: After a 30-minute Placement
Test, you can normally start on any Monday. Classes start at 9;00am. Arrive
at the School a little after 8:00am on any Monday and you can normally
be in class by 9:00am!
LEVELS OF LEARNING AND AVAILIABILITY: We have levels from Elementay
to Advanced. Please note, Zero Beginners are accepted only on certain
dates - or may take One-to-One lessons until they are ready to join an
elementary class. All courses are offered subject to demand and may be
cancelled or postponed should demand fall belo an acceptable or economically
viable level.
CERTIFICATES AND REPORTS: At the end of your course, you will receive
an Academy School Certificate showing the level you have
reached, a Progress Report,and advice on future study.
STUDENT VISAS - AND PAYMENT: If you need a student visa,
you must pay at least 50% of the tuition fees in advance. We will then
send you a Certificate of Enrolment to help with your visa application.
If you do not get a visa, we will give you back your fees - except for
a £50 administration fee - providing you comply with our Booking
& Payment conditions. Also, when applying for a visa, make sure you
have a place to stay in London, and enough money to support yourself without
working.
STUDENT VISAS AND WORK: If you want to work in the UK,
you must normally have a student visa for at least 6 months (26 weeks).You
can then work part-time for up to 20 hours per week, and full-time during
your school holidays.
LOCATION AND LONDON TRANSPORT: Academy International is in a large,
beautiful Victorian house in quiet and peaceful gardens near Hyde Park.
Oxford Street, and Notting Hill are within walking distance of the School.
Paddington, Lancaster Gate, and Bayswater underground stations are minutes
on foot. Many buses serve the school area.

or more, you can get a 30% reduction on bus and underground Travel in
London with a Student Photocard. We will help you apply for this reduction
after your arrival at the School. (14 weeks tuition plus up to 2 weeks
optional holidays during your course.)
FAMILY/OTHER ACCOMMODATION/TAXI
TRANSFER: We know that having a friendly and comfortable place
to stay is very important to you. We have wonderful host families at a
reasonable price. Have a look at our accommodation
pages. We can arrange for a taxi to take you
from the airport to your family or to other accommodation.We
can also arrange for you to stay in theStudent Residence next door to
the School.
CAFETERIA: The School has a Cafeteria, offering drinks,
snacks, cakes, and sandwiches. There are also many good coffee bars near
the school.
FREE
INTERNET CENTRE: Our modern Internet Centre helps you keep in touch
with home.
LEISURE
AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: Activities include visits to dance and music
venues, and trips and tours to many famous places in England and Scotland.
The School holds great parties, often with a food or music theme!
BOOKING/PAYMENT:
You can pay the School by Bank Transfer or Credit
Card. If you pay by Bank Transfer, you must fax (or post) us
a copy of the Bank Transfer document. If you pay by Credit Card, please
fax or telephone us the cardholder's name and address, the 16-digit card
number, and the expiry date. The Bank Transfer Charge is £12, and
this will be added to your bill. You can use the online booking
form - or the printable form. You can
fax (or post) the printable form. Note: the printable form has
a place for credit card details. You are responsible for bank transfer
fees!
UNIVERSITY
PLACEMENT SERVICE: The School offers a low-cost and highly professional
University Placemnent Service to students who wish to continue their studies

ECONOMY
COURSES: Students may only transfer from a later (less costly)
course to an earlier course by paying the difference in fees and, then,
if only there is a place available.Though classes may be larger, Economy
Courses are run to our normal high standards. They are cheaper because
they are at a less popular time and classes are somewhat larger! Economy
tuition fees must be paid fully in advance.
PAYMENT AND CONDITIONS: HOW TO PAY
CREDIT CARD –
Tell us or fax us - 00 44 (0) 20 7262 0854 - the
cardholder’s name and address, plus the 16-digit card number and
the expiry date.
BANK TRANSFER - Send the fees, then send us a copy of
the Bank Transfer Document by post or fax.
Your bank may charge you a small fee. If we pay your bank transfer charges,

CASH – we accept cash but advise
the safety of other forms of payment.
BOOKING CONDITIONS - to book a place
on a course, you must send us the course fees in part or in whole.
If you are also booking accommodation, you must send
the Accommodation Booking Fee of £50 AND at least one week’s
accommodation fees. If you want to stay in a hotel, you must pay the full
amount in advance. To cancel or postpone accommodation, you must
give at least one week’s notice, 7 whole working days.
STUDENT VISAS: IMPORTANT –
If your visa application fails, we refund all your tuition fees except
for £50 to cover our administration expenses, providing
you comply with our conditions as regards notice of cancellation or postponement.
If you cancel your course (and accommodation, if booked) at least seven
days before the course start date and return the original documents, we
will return your tuition fees and keep only one week’s accommodation
payment (where accommodation has been booked) as well as the accommodation
arrangement fee of £45 and £50 for administration charges.
If you have not cancelled within 7 days of the course start date, course
fees are non-refundable and accommodation fees are normally non-refundable.
Once a courses has started, neither accommodation nor course fees are
refundable, though the course may be postponed at the discretion of the
School and fresh documents will be issued if your visa is delayed.
